The DEC integrated behavioral system is a web-based application developed by Behavioral Healthcare Providers (BHP) to enhance the assessment and referral process for patients in a behavioral crisis. The system helps clinicians perform a comprehensive crisis assessment to determine the necessary level of treatment and then electronically coordinates care with health care providers online and in real time.
Because patients are connected to ongoing services immediately following a crisis and are not required to follow up on their own, the use of the DEC system increases patient safety and decreases liability for the facilities that use it. Immediate access to ongoing and appropriate behavioral services reduces unnecessary hospital admissions and helps patients avoid crisis in the future.
The DEC system is a HIPPA and HITECH compliant, secure web-based system that collects and stores clinical information which can be accessed by outpatient providers, inpatient facilities, partial hospitalization programs, and day treatment programs. Users have immediate access to clinical information.
BHP believes that DEC services are unmatched by other emergency departments. In addition, the reduction in unnecessary inpatient psychiatric admissions from emergency departments translates to over 80$ million in savings to the contracted insurance carriers.
Going Virtual!
DEC services will soon be provided virtually in May of 2012! More information coming soon!
